The Pink Dream: Giro Classico Wrap-Up

Table of Contents

As the pink caravan rolled across Italy, a lucky group of Bikestyle Tours guests were there every step of the way, not just to watch the Giro d’Italia, but to live it.

Their journey began lakeside, where the calm blue waters of Lake Garda offered a serene welcome to what would become an unforgettable cycling holiday. With Bardolino as their base, guests explored quiet roads beneath alpine ridgelines, sipped local wines in cobbled piazzas, and met fellow riders over their first authentic Italian dinner, the perfect prologue to the epic days to follow.

Soon after, the action picked up as the group ventured east into Veneto, home to rolling vineyards, rustic villas and storied cycling heritage. They pedalled quiet backroads in the morning, only to find themselves swept into the roar of the crowd by afternoon, cheering at the Giro stage finish, where the pros sprinted for glory just metres away.

Then came the dramatic shift north, deep into the Dolomites, a place where the road tilts skyward and the mountains rise like cathedrals. In Moena, riders were greeted by crisp alpine air and jagged peaks, warming up on scenic climbs before facing the iconic Sella Ronda. Four legendary passes. One magical loop. With every pedal stroke, they carved a line through cycling history.

There was no time to rest on their laurels, Passo Rolle and the Giro d’Italia awaited. The day’s 90 km journey began with a steady 30 km climb over the scenic Passo Rolle, followed by an exhilarating 50 km descent into Primolano, where guests arrived just in time to witness the peloton launch their attack on the final climb of the day.

Midway through the tour, the riders transferred to the historic town of Bormio, nestled at the base of cycling royalty. In the space of just a few days, they took on the Piccolo Stelvio, the Gavia Pass (half way), and the king of them all, the towering Stelvio Pass, with its 48 switchbacks and sky-high summit. Between climbs, they explored Bormio’s thermal spas and ancient stone laneways, soaking up recovery and local culture in equal measure.

The journey continued toward Lake Como, where the spirit of Italian cycling lives on. A steep ride to the Madonna del Ghisallo chapel and its treasured cycling museum stirred hearts and memories, as guests stood in the presence of jerseys, trophies, and bikes that defined eras.

As the Giro reached its crescendo, so did the tour. The group made their way into the breathtaking Aosta Valley, riding out to catch the final mountain stages from prime roadside vantage points. They stood shoulder-to-shoulder with fans from around the world, feeling the rumble of team cars, hearing the cheers, and witnessing decisive attacks live , not on TV, but right there in front of them.

Their own riding mirrored the pros, with a final heroic effort to conquer the Colle di Gran San Bernardo, a border-straddling, snow-lined epic climb that marked the perfect finale to this cycling odyssey. As the group toasted the closing stage of the Giro on-screen that afternoon, it was clear: this wasn’t just a trip, it was a memory etched into each rider’s soul.

The tour finished with a celebratory farewell dinner in the Alps, where friendships forged over mountains and meals came full circle. Laughter, photos, and stories filled the room, as guests reflected on the challenge, the camaraderie, and the sheer beauty of experiencing the Giro d’Italia from the saddle.

The 2025 Giro Classico was more than a cycling holiday, it was a journey through time, terrain and tradition. From lake to peak, pedal to prosecco, it was an immersive, all-access adventure into the soul of Italian cycling.

Until next time — arrivederci!
