It is not a packing guide or final arrival guide. Those details are sent separately at the right time. This page is here to help you understand what life on tour feels like, and how we all work together to create a great experience.

Enjoy The Experience

Every Bikestyle tour is built around one simple goal, to help you have a brilliant cycling holiday. The riding matters, the race matters, the roads matter, but the real magic comes from the shared experience.

Some days will feel smooth and relaxed. Other days may involve early starts, changing weather, race road closures, traffic, transfers or a little waiting. Our team will manage the logistics, communicate clearly and make the best decisions for the group.

Good to know: Flexibility is part of cycling travel. When plans need to change, our focus is always on keeping the day safe, enjoyable and as smooth as possible.

How Each Day Works

No two tour days are exactly the same, but most follow a familiar rhythm. Your guides will explain the plan each day and confirm any timing changes as they happen.

The daily plan may include breakfast, a guest briefing, ride preparation, a transfer, ride options, race viewing, hotel check-in, dinner and the next day’s information.

Please check the day’s communication carefully, whether it is shared at the hotel, on the bus, during a briefing or in the WhatsApp group once the tour has started.

Simple rule: Listen to the daily briefing and ask questions early. It is much easier to clarify the plan before the group is ready to move.

The Flow Of The Day

Morning

Breakfast, daily briefing, luggage or day bag instructions, bike preparation and the day’s meeting or departure time.

On The Road

Ride options, guide support, regrouping points, support vehicle coordination and time to enjoy the route at a sensible pace.

Afternoon & Evening

Race viewing, transfers, hotel check-in, dinner, race recap, social time and information for the next day.

Who Does What On Tour

Your tour team works together to support the group, manage logistics, assist riders and create a relaxed, welcoming environment.

Staff roles can vary depending on the size, location and style of the tour. On smaller trips, one person may perform several roles. On larger trips, roles may be more defined.

Regardless of structure, the team’s focus is the same, to help you feel supported, informed and ready to enjoy the experience.

Tour Leader

Coordinates the trip, manages daily logistics, works with hotels and drivers, communicates key information and helps resolve guest questions or concerns.

Cycling Guides

Support guests on the road, lead or sweep groups, assist with navigation, provide ride advice and help riders choose suitable options.

Mechanic Support

Helps with minor mechanical issues, bike assembly, spare parts and keeping bikes rideable. Please report issues at the end of the ride where possible.

Professional Rider Insight

Some tours include former professional riders who share race insight, local knowledge, stories and cycling perspective throughout the tour.

Support Vehicle

Assists with day bags, water, snacks, weather gear, tired riders and logistical support throughout the day, depending on the route and access.

Drivers

Manage transport, luggage movement and vehicle logistics. Their timing and access can be affected by local road rules, traffic and driver regulations.

How We Support Different Riders

Guests arrive with different fitness levels, experience and riding goals. Some want the longest rides, others want a more relaxed week with selective riding and more time to enjoy the scenery.

Both approaches are welcome. The best choice is the one that helps you enjoy the day and stay fresh for the whole tour.

Tour Element How It Works How Guests Can Help
Ride Options Guides explain the ride choices, including distance, climbing, timing and support. Choose honestly based on your fitness, energy and the day ahead.
Regrouping Groups may spread out on climbs or rolling terrain, with planned regroup points where suitable. Stay aware of turns, wait if asked, and follow guide instructions.
Support Vehicle Support vehicles assist where road access and timing allow. Pack day bags carefully and understand the vehicle may not always be immediately beside the group.
Mechanical Help Mechanics assist with minor issues and basic spares where available. Arrive with a serviced bike and report problems after the ride, not at departure time.

Watching The Race

Seeing the race live is often one of the biggest highlights of a Bikestyle tour. It can also be one of the most logistically complex parts of the trip.

Race organisers, police, crowds, road closures, mountain access, weather and traffic can all affect the day. Sometimes roads close earlier than expected, access points change, or we need to adjust the viewing plan.

Our team will always aim to position the group for the best possible experience while keeping the day safe and realistic.

Race day mindset: Be ready on time, pack for waiting, expect atmosphere and stay flexible. The best race days often come from embracing the whole experience.

Why Being On Time Helps Everyone

On normal days, being punctual keeps the group relaxed. On race days, it can be the difference between a smooth day and a stressful one.

Less Time Pressure

When the group is ready on time, guides have more room to manage traffic, road closures, weather and unexpected changes.

Better Race Access

Early departures give us a better chance of reaching viewing locations before roads become crowded or closed.

Better Group Experience

Being punctual shows respect for other guests, staff, drivers and the shared plan for the day.

Please note: If you are late, the group may not always be able to wait. This is especially important on race days, transfer days and days with fixed road closure times.

Respect For Guests And Staff

A great tour is shaped by the people on it. Everyone brings different cycling experience, travel habits, personalities and expectations.

We ask all guests to help create a positive group environment by being patient, punctual, courteous and supportive of others.

Your guides and drivers work hard behind the scenes. A little flexibility and respect makes a big difference to the flow of the tour and the mood of the group.

Look After Each Other

Encourage fellow guests, communicate clearly on the road and help create a welcoming group atmosphere.

Respect Different Abilities

Some guests ride faster, some ride steadier and some choose shorter days. Everyone’s tour goal is valid.

Raise Issues Early

If something is not right, tell the Tour Leader or a guide early so we can help before a small issue becomes a bigger one.

Travel Insurance Should Be Arranged Early

Travel insurance is one of the most important parts of your tour preparation. Each year, guests are forced to cancel late due to injury, illness, family emergencies or unexpected travel disruption.

Without suitable travel insurance, you may lose some or all of your tour costs, flights and other travel arrangements booked around your tour.

The best time to arrange travel insurance is when you pay your tour deposit. Many guests think insurance will cost more if they take it out early, however in most cases the policy cost is based on the cover selected, destination, traveller details and travel value, not simply how early you buy it. Arranging cover early may help protect you from unexpected cancellation costs from the time you book.

Cancellation Cover

Consider whether your policy protects prepaid tour, flight and accommodation costs if injury, illness or other covered events prevent you from travelling.

Medical Cover

Your policy should be suitable for your destination and personal health circumstances, including emergency medical support overseas.

Cycling Activity

Check that recreational cycling, guided riding and the type of riding included on your tour are covered by your policy.

Action today: If you have not arranged travel insurance, please review your options now. Bikestyle Tours cannot advise on individual policies, so speak with a qualified insurance provider if you are unsure.

Your Emails Will Guide You

To keep the experience simple, we send information when it becomes useful. You do not need every detail today. The next emails will guide you through travel details, final preparation, bike hire reminders, your final itinerary and arrival instructions.

Please read each email carefully and complete any forms by the requested date. This helps our team prepare for arrivals, transfers, hotel check-ins, bikes, guest support and the overall tour experience.

Helpful Answers Before You Travel

Will the itinerary ever change?

Yes, it can. Weather, race road closures, traffic, local events and safety considerations may require changes. Your guides will explain any updates as clearly and early as possible.

How will I know the plan each day?

Your guides will brief the group and share key information during the tour. Updates may be provided at breakfast, dinner, on the bus, at the hotel or through WhatsApp once the group is active.

What happens if I am tired during a ride?

Please speak with a guide. Depending on the route and support access, we may be able to adjust your ride, regroup, use the support vehicle or help you choose a more suitable option for the next day.

Can the support vehicle follow every rider?

Not always. Support vehicle access depends on the route, road closures, traffic, group location and timing. Guides will explain how support will work for each day.

When should I tell the team about a problem?

As soon as possible. Whether it relates to your bike, room, meals, riding confidence, health or travel plans, early communication gives us the best chance to help.

The adventure is getting close.
