A final summit finish

Today’s difficult stage has 5 categorised climbs. Strategically, our hotel is located about halfway along today’s course. We’ll take the opportunity to head off before the race and encounter the same challenges as the pros. Our first significant climb is where teams will challenge for the red jersey. Like previous year’s the leader will have to make a significant effort to hold off the attacks.

There are also several undulations before the final summit finish that will stage opportunities for repeated attacks. It is sure to be an exciting stage. You have the option to complete the course and watch the race on the final climb, or alternatively watch the race closer to our hotel. Our shorter ride option can set off a little later in the morning and take the direct route to the final climb.

After the racing is complete, it is downhill back to our hotel. We can freshen up, enjoy a pre-dinner drink before a farewell dinner together.

TODAY IN THE RACE
Stage 20 – Arenas de San Pedro to Plataforma de Gredos
The only certainty today is that the leader of the red jersey will be under attack! Only at the finish to Sierra de Gredos will the holder of the red jersey be relieved to have overcome his contenders and when travelling to Madrid tomorrow he knows that the podium awaits. The penultimate climb is 15 km averages 6% before the final summit finish, a category 3 climb. The cumulation of three weeks of racing will make anything be within the realm of possibility today.
