You’ll be sharing the elevator, lounge area and the bar with the world’s Pro cycling stars, media and the cycling fraternity at the 2019 Santos Tour Down Under. For this week, the Hilton Adelaide becomes the cycling centre of Australia. 2019 marks the event’s 21st year having grown every year, as has the interest of overseas riders. It is a UCI event like no other.
Your Bikestyle Tours trip starts at Adelaide Airport where our guides will meet you and transfer the short distance to Race HQ – Hilton Adelaide, where we spend the next 8 nights. The Hilton Adelaide is the only location during a Pro Tour event where you can see the stars of cycling in a relaxed atmosphere.
On arrival at our Race HQ our Bikestyle Tours guides will assist your check in and assemble your bike. Whatever help you may need, your caring guides will be on hand. Depending on your arrival time, join us for a short ride through Adelaide this afternoon. Otherwise, take a stroll and explore the city of Adelaide, or the City of Adelaide Tour Village and Bike Expo.
You’ll have time to freshen up after our ride before heading down to watch the People’s Choice Classic, the traditional pre-race criterium. The atmosphere is electric and the racing is fast so it’s well worth a look! Go earlier and see the Women’s Criterium, which is a great lead up to the Classic.

The People’s Choice Classic is a fast-paced closed-circuit road race held as a preview to the Santos Tour Down Under. Savour the buzz as top international cyclists hit city streets on a tight city circuit of 30 laps, ensuring the action is non stop. See the winning riders’ jersey presentations after the race finish at the Ochre Presentation Podium.
Maybe think about coming a day early and go to the Team Presentation and the Great Opening Concert which is just in front of the Hilton in Victoria Park on Saturday night.

City of Adelaide Tour Village and Bike Expo
Situated directly in front of our hotel is the City of Adelaide Tour Village where the teams make their base for the week. It is a hive of activity. Each night the genius mechanics are at work, catch a glimpse of the riders as they finish for the day, catch-up on all the race results, buy your official race merchandise and take a look at the trade displays.
The outdoor space in the Village will be the hub of the tour. It will be a meeting place for cycling fans, an after-work hangout, a place to catch up on the day’s racing, to see interviews with cycling stars and maybe even get an autograph! Each day there will be an entertainment program showcasing cycling to the fans.
