Bienvenue

Our trip starts with your guides meeting you at the Lyon Saint-Exupèry Airport at 10:00am. After a short transfer to our luxury 4-star villa in the Ubaye valley, we will assemble our bikes and head out on a short warm up ride. Our first ride in the Alps allows us to shake off some travel legs and test out your bike for your cycling holiday in France. We’ll stick to the valley and ride through some of the villages. We’ll also head up a small climb to test your low gears.

Our accommodation for the next 3 nights is a chateau hotel with private grounds, swimming pool and a wellness centre. The 360° mountain vistas are throughout the property. We will be a small group for our first two nights before we are joined by our spectator group on the third night. This will give us a chance to tick off some climbs in the area before catching up with the race.

Tonight, our welcome dinner will be prepared under the watchful eye of the executive chef and served with an accompanying wine. This evening is a great social opportunity to meet your fellow guests, our hosts at this beautiful chateau and your staff. Most importantly, have your questions answered by your helpful staff.

REST DAY IN THE RACE
About Lyon

Lyon is a popular tourist city with a wonderful old town with medieval and Renaissance style. The gastronomy is exceptional, at one stage had the greatest number of michelin hat restaurants in the world. Recently, the city developed the “Confluence” quarter, where the Soâne joins the Rhône river. A vibrant district has formed around the Confluence museum, architecturally comparable to the Guggenheim in Bilbao. For us it provides great access to the final week of racing in the French Alps. Arrive a day or two earlier, adjust to the time zone and enjoy this great city.
