Welcome to France

Our trip starts with your guides meeting you at the Toulouse Blagnac Airport at 11:00am. Toulouse is the home of Airbus and the gateway to the Pyrenees, South-Western France and Andorra. For us, Toulouse provides great access to the Tour de France as it starts its second week of racing. Arrive a day or two earlier and enjoy this vibrant city with great restaurants or visit the technology museums.

After a short transfer into the Aveyron region which is part of the Central Massif, we’ll assemble our bikes and head out on a short warm up ride. The very quiet roads through the countryside are perfect for adjusting into the time zone, shaking off some travel legs and testing out your bike for your cycling holiday in France.

Our ride crosses the Aveyron river a couple of times, before returning back to our hotel. The river has gorged its path through the host rock so we’ll be able to enjoy some great views and test our gears with a little climbing.

Tonight we’ll have dinner together with an accompanying drink. A great social opportunity to meet your fellow guests and staff. Most importantly, you can have any of your questions answered by your helpful staff.

TODAY IN THE RACE
Rest Day 1: Albi
Albi hosts an annual cyclo-touring event and the 2017 UCI World Gran Fondo Championships were decided here under the backdrop of its grand brick Cathedral Sainte-Cécile, noted as the largest freestanding brick building in the world. Massage, rest and an ‘easy 90km’ ride will be on the agenda for riders.
