San Pellegrino and a summit finish
From our hotel, we’ll ride in the Dolomites to today’s finish in San Martino di Castrozza. There are two routes for getting there. Our easier, direct option is going over Passo Rolle, a climb in tomorrow’s stage. Our harder challenge ride has over 2,000 m of climbing and reaches 3 summits for the day. Our first summit starts from Moena to San Pellegrino, 12 km at 6.3%. After a short descent, we start our next climb over Passo di Valles, longer at 20 km. The last 7 km of this climb is the most difficult of the day. Our final climb joins our easier ride part way along the climb, 6 km from the summit. A memorable ride through the scenic Dolomites.
After a warm shower and freshening up we’ll arrive at today’s Giro d’Italia finish with time to take in the atmosphere and watch the riders cross the line. Tonight we’ll head into the village for dinner, a free night to enjoy some friendly Trentino hospitality.
TODAY IN THE GIRO D’ITALIA RACE
Stage 19: Treviso to San Martino di Castrozza ***, 151km
Riders return to the mountains today and there is just enough gradient to favour the climbers, but the noticeable absence of steep gradients may favour the powerful Tom Dumoulin, helping him overcome his second place podiums and rise to the top step. It’ll be a good finish to watch.
