My wife (Ruth) and I joined Bikestyle tours on their 2025 Vuelta Espana Tour. Having had a really positive experience with Bikestyle on the 2011 TdF tour, we were confident that this tour would also be great, but I have to say it exceeded expectations. Firstly, the hotels were exceptional. I can only imagine how hard it was to find suitable accommodation for a group in some of these out of the way regions. The Las Caldas hotel and the Monastery at Santo Estevo were standouts but all of the hotels were great and a step up from our last tour. Secondly, we loved our guides, Eric and Claire. They were truly extraordinary and we were so lucky to have them guide us around. The group on this tour was quite small (only seven people) and so there was even more pressure on them, as they were spending a lot more time in contact with each of us. We thoroughly enjoyed their company, not just as guides but as great people. I was particularly grateful for the extra kindness and attention that Claire showed to Ruth (as the only female rider in the group and who was very self conscious about not wanting to hold people up). Claire did an amazing job of managing a variety of different riding abilities which, in a small group, was much more challenging. Thirdly, the organisation and logistics were great. The whole tour went seamlessly, even with unexpected events such as the protests that occurred. It was also great that Eric was able to wangle us into a team bus and have some contact with the Teams which was very special. There was a very good balance between riding and watching the race in the various locations and we felt that we saw as much of the race as we needed to. All in all, we had a great time. We are already looking ahead for our next one. Thanks again to Adam and the whole team.

Thanks Eric, Claire and the Bikestyle crew for a wonderful La Vuelta trip this year. The itinerary, hotels and group dinners were all first class. Thanks especially to Claire for her support in getting to the top of L’Angliru. Definitely one to tick off the bucket list!

We loved every minute of our recent 2025 La Vuelta trip with my wife attending as a non-riding spectator. Eric & Claire were fantastic guides / friends throughout our Spanish journey with Sue becoming a quasi member of the Bikestyle team. We would highly recommend Bikestyle Tours to anyone considering their 1st cycling tour either as a rider or spectator.

Update: Another great trip in 2025! Update: Tour de France Femmes 2023 was THE BEST. Thanks Adam, Petra, Sophie and especially Alex who rode up Tourmelet 3 times in a day to help us. Photo is Pic de Nore, gorgeous riding. Bikestyle are an absolute pleasure to travel with. Friendly, easy to get on with and really know their stuff. They're organised but flexible so everything happens but always in a relaxed laid back way. Another highlight is the great people they seem to attract, I've always met people I really like to ride with and travel with in bikestyle groups. The trips I've done with bikestyle have been some of my best memories and I look forward to travelling with them again in the future.

To all cycling enthusiasts out there, do yourself a favour and book a cycling adventure with BIKESTYLE TOURS. It is just an amazing experience. I was very much looking forward to the last week of the Tour de France 2025 in the months leading up to event, but when it was actually happening it was so much better than I imagined. Everything about the event was superb. The planning that goes into an event such as this is a credit to Adam and his sensational crew of people on the ground to make it an unforgettable time. I could not fault anything on the tour. They had thought of everything and were flexible and accommodating along the way. Meals, accommodation, cycle routes, transport, bikes and knowledge transfer from the staff were all first class. Being in the French Alps is a majestic experience and to be able to check out the landscape on a bike is incredible. I would like to think I can do something like this again. Having done it once it, it is most tempting to give another tour ago in the not too distant future. Fabulous time!! Michael J Royal

I have just completed the 2022 Giro Tour with Bikestyle. What a fantastic experience. From when I first contacted Adam, we had to battle through covid and lockdown. He was so accommodating and supportive. On the trip he is the perfect tour leader and guide, cool, calm, fun and generous with his time. He is well backed up by ex pro Eric De Clerc, super experienced, interested in talking about his life as a rider but also yours. Diego is Adam’s go to man for Italy, fluent in 4 languages, the most helpful guy who is so passionate about cycling and his country. Bruno was our driver, so good to have Frenchman along. Couldn’t get a better driver but also fun to be around and do anything for you. I achieved my goal of climbing the Stelvio on a brilliant day along with some other fabulous climbs. But more than that, we watched the Giro racing through villages and finally culminating in the arena in Verona with a win to Jai Hindley. Seems Adam can organise anything, weather and a spectacular Giro win too. Thanks guys, can’t recommend you enough.

This was a great trip. There is nothing like doing bucket list climbs in Europe and having all the logistics sorted for you, and a great bunch of people to ride with. This was the 4th Bikestyle trip I’ve been on (each different) and each time on my own. Every time the trips are well organised, the guides are really good (exceptional experience- how often do you get to ride with a 5x TdF finisher!) and the other guests are always ‘likeminded’ and good fun. Thanks BS.

We just returned from Bikestyle Tours Spectator Tour for the Tour de France. It was an amazing experience and Bikestyle had every aspect of the trip planned to perfection. The transport, the hotels, the dinners, and our two exceptional tour hosts made this trip such a pleasure. We recommend them completely and without qualification! Thank you Bikestyle for the trip of a lifetime!

Tour Style

Group Size: Up to 24 Guests, supported by an experienced Bikestyle Tours team

Designed for both riders and spectators, this tour combines memorable cycling, three very different Tour de France race experiences and time to enjoy Scotland, England and Wales along the way. Whether you ride every opportunity, spectate throughout or travel with a cycling partner, our team takes care of the logistics so everyone can enjoy the Grand Départ their way.

Riding Experience

For riders, the tour explores four distinctive British cycling regions, including the Scottish Borders, Midlothian, the Lake District and Bannau Brycheiniog in Wales. Expect quiet country lanes, rolling valleys, short steeper climbs and some spectacular mountain scenery.

Most cycling days include shorter and longer ride options, with experienced guides, support vehicles and mechanical assistance giving you the flexibility to choose how much you ride.

Spectator Experience

You don’t need to ride to enjoy this tour. Spectators and non-riding partners share the major Tour de France experiences, accommodation and social side of the trip, with opportunities to enjoy the destinations while our cyclists are riding.

This makes the Grand Départ particularly well suited to couples and friends with different riding interests, you can enjoy parts of the day differently before coming together for the racing, meals and shared experiences.

Tour de France Experience

The tour is built around the complete opening of the 2027 Tour de France Grand Départ. Experience the official Team Presentation at Edinburgh Castle, the historic Stage 1 start in Edinburgh, the Stage 2 start in Keswick and the Stage 3 finish in Cardiff.

These race days are mixed with riding and destination experiences, giving the tour a great balance between following the world’s biggest bike race and experiencing Great Britain beyond the barriers.

Accommodation

Enjoy carefully selected 4-star accommodation across the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, the Lake District and Cardiff. Each hotel is chosen for comfort and location, while also allowing us to manage the complex transport, bike and race-day logistics involved in following the Tour de France across three nations.

Tour Suitability

One of the strengths of our Tour de France Grand Depart Tour is that you don’t need to ride every kilometre to have a great cycling holiday. The itinerary naturally alternates riding with race viewing, giving you plenty of flexibility throughout the ten days.

Social Riders & Leisure Cyclists

This is your cycling holiday, not a training camp. Choose the shorter ride options, use the Tour de France viewing days as recovery days or simply take a day off the bike when you feel like it.

Our routes are designed to let you experience some fantastic British cycling without needing to ride long distances every day. With experienced guides and support vehicles available during scheduled rides, you can adjust your riding as the tour progresses and enjoy the Grand Depart at your own pace.

Experienced & Enthusiast Cyclists

If riding is a major reason you travel, the longer options provide additional kilometres, climbing and the opportunity to experience more of Britain’s varied road cycling.

From the flowing roads and open valleys of the Scottish Borders to the sharper gradients of the Lake District and mountain roads of Wales, there is enough variety to keep strong riders interested. Our longer routes allow you to challenge yourself while still preserving enough energy to enjoy the Tour de France race experiences that make this trip unique.

Meals Included

All buffet breakfasts, dinner on 3 nights, including Welcome and Farewell Dinners with drinks.

From quiet Scottish lanes to the roar of a Tour de France crowd, our team handles the details so you can enjoy the bike, the race and everything that happens in between.

Why We Love the 2027 Tour de France Grand Départ

There is something special about being there at the very beginning of the Tour de France. Every jersey is still up for grabs, every team arrives with ambition and there is an excitement around the riders, team buses and crowds that makes a Grand Départ completely different from following the race later in July.

In 2027, it will be even more memorable. The men’s Tour de France starts in Scotland for the first time, before three opening stages take the race through Scotland, England and Wales.

What we love about this tour is that you experience much more than the racing. Riders can explore the quiet roads and open landscapes of the Scottish Borders, the hills around Edinburgh, the spectacular Lake District and the mountains of Wales. Spectators can enjoy these same regions at their own pace, making this a great trip for couples and friends who don’t necessarily want to spend every day on a bike.

Then there are the moments only a Grand Départ can deliver, seeing the teams presented beneath Edinburgh Castle, feeling the anticipation on the morning of Stage 1, watching the riders prepare in Keswick and being among the crowds in Cardiff as the third stage reaches its conclusion.

You’re not simply coming to watch the Tour de France. You’re spending ten days riding, spectating and experiencing the Grand Départ as it moves across three nations.

Tour Overview

The 2027 Tour de France Grand Départ Tour is a 10-day fully supported experience through Scotland, England and Wales, created for both riders and spectators around the historic opening three stages of the Tour de France.

We’ve designed the tour so the Grand Départ is at the heart of the experience, without making every day simply about chasing the race. Before the peloton rolls out of Edinburgh, there’s time to settle into Scotland, explore the Scottish Borders and experience the anticipation building around one of world cycling’s biggest events.

For riders, the tour combines the racing with some excellent British cycling. You’ll ride quiet roads through the Scottish Borders, explore the countryside around Edinburgh, experience the landscapes of the Lake District and finish among the mountains and reservoirs of Bannau Brycheiniog in Wales. Shorter and longer options on selected days, together with experienced guides and vehicle support, allow you to choose how much you want to ride.

Spectators and non-riding partners are very much part of the tour too. You’ll share the major Tour de France experiences, destinations, accommodation and social side of the trip, with alternative opportunities to enjoy each region while the cycling groups are out riding. It makes the tour particularly well suited to couples and friends with different riding interests.

Then the Tour takes centre stage. Experience the official Team Presentation beneath Edinburgh Castle, the excitement of the Stage 1 Grand Départ in Edinburgh, the Stage 2 start among the fells and lakes of Keswick and the Stage 3 finish in Cardiff.

Away from the race, there’s time for a private tour of Edinburgh, a Scottish whisky distillery visit and relaxed evenings sharing the day with fellow cycling fans.

With quality 4-star accommodation and the Bikestyle Tours team managing the bikes, transport, riding and complicated race-day logistics, you can concentrate on what matters, riding when you want to ride, experiencing the Tour de France and enjoying ten memorable days across Great Britain.

Welcome to Scotland, Edinburgh to the Scottish Borders

DATE: Sunday, 27 June 2027
LOCATION: Scottish Borders

Your 2027 Tour de France Grand Départ Tour begins in Edinburgh, where our Bikestyle Tours team will meet you at Edinburgh Airport at 11.00 am. Bikes and luggage loaded, we’ll leave the city behind and travel south into the Scottish Borders, our home for the first three nights.

After checking into our hotel near Hawick and getting the bikes set up, it’s time for our first ride.

We’ll deliberately keep this one relaxed. The opening loop follows quiet country roads around Hawick, giving everyone a chance to settle onto the bike, loosen the legs after travelling and get a first taste of riding in Scotland.

Expect rolling farmland, stone walls, small villages and the peaceful roads that make the Scottish Borders such enjoyable cycling country. There’s no need to chase numbers today, this is about finding your rhythm and getting comfortable before the bigger rides ahead.

Back at the hotel, we’ll gather for our Welcome Dinner and drinks. It’s our chance to introduce the team, run through the days ahead and start talking about what promises to be a very special week of cycling and Tour de France racing.

Ride the Scottish Borders, Talla, Megget and St Mary's Loch

DATE: Monday, 28 June 2027
LOCATION: Scottish Borders

Today we head properly into the Scottish Borders for one of the standout rides of the tour.

Our route takes us through a landscape of open valleys, reservoirs, remote roads and long stretches where traffic can feel almost non-existent. We’ll ride towards Talla Reservoir, tackle the climb through the hills and continue towards Megget Reservoir and St Mary’s Loch, one of the most scenic parts of the Borders.

The terrain here has a rhythm of its own. Long rolling sections give way to more demanding climbs, followed by sweeping descents through wide-open countryside. Stronger riders can continue onto our extended route, adding more kilometres and climbing, while the shorter option still delivers a proper day on the bike.

With our Bikestyle Tours support vehicle never far away, you can concentrate on the roads, scenery and riding rather than worrying about supplies or logistics.

We’ll return to Hawick in the afternoon with tired legs and plenty to talk about over dinner.

Tweed Valley Cycling, Melrose and Scottish History

DATE: Tuesday, 29 June 2027
LOCATION: Scottish Borders

Today we follow the River Tweed through another beautiful corner of southern Scotland.

Leaving Hawick, we’ll ride north through rolling countryside towards Melrose, with quiet lanes, open farmland and classic Borders scenery accompanying us along the way.

Melrose makes a natural destination for cyclists. We’ll have time to stop for coffee and explore the historic town before visiting Melrose Abbey, founded in the 12th century and closely connected to the story of Robert the Bruce.

From here, choose to finish the shorter ride or continue with our guides on the longer route through more of the Tweed Valley.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll swap bikes for something distinctly Scottish with a guided visit and tasting at The Borders Distillery in Hawick.

It’s a day that captures exactly what we want from this tour, quality riding, somewhere interesting to stop and enough time off the bike to enjoy where we are.

DATE: Wednesday, 30 June 2027
LOCATION: Edinburgh

Today the Tour de France starts to feel very real.

After breakfast, we’ll transfer north towards Edinburgh before getting back on the bikes for a ride through Midlothian and the Pentland Hills.

The riding changes again today. Expect rolling roads, open farmland and views towards Edinburgh as we make our way closer to the Scottish capital. We’ll stop for lunch along the route before continuing towards the city and checking into our Edinburgh hotel.

Then it’s time to put the bikes away and immerse ourselves in the Tour.

This afternoon we’ll join a private local guide for a walking tour through Edinburgh’s Old Town, learning more about the history and character of the city before making our way towards Edinburgh Castle.

Tonight is one of the first major moments of the Grand Départ, the official 2027 Tour de France Team Presentation.

This is when the anticipation really builds. Riders, teams, media and cycling fans come together as the entire Tour de France peloton is presented ahead of Stage 1. Standing beneath Edinburgh Castle as the world’s best cyclists are introduced should be one of those moments when you realise just how big the next few days are going to be.

Edinburgh Cycling and the Calm Before the Tour

DATE: Thursday, 1 July 2027

There’s something special about riding through a Grand Départ city the day before the Tour de France begins.

Teams are out reconning roads, mechanics are preparing bikes, support vehicles are everywhere and cycling fans begin arriving from around the world. Edinburgh will be buzzing, but we still have another day of riding to enjoy.

We’ll head away from the busiest parts of the city and ride towards the open roads around East Lothian, where quieter lanes and rolling countryside provide a great contrast to the atmosphere building back in Edinburgh.

As always, we’ll have shorter and longer options available, giving you the choice between a relaxed day ahead of Stage 1 or some extra kilometres if the legs are feeling good.

We’ll return to Edinburgh with plenty of time to relax, explore the city or simply enjoy watching the Tour de France circus take over the streets.

Wake up in the Lake District on Tour de France race morning.

Today we’ll head to Keswick to experience the start of Stage 2, surrounded by the lakes, fells and steep roads that make this one of Britain’s most celebrated cycling regions.

Stage-start mornings give you a completely different perspective on the Tour. There’s time to watch the teams arrive, see the riders warming up, check out the latest bikes and equipment and enjoy the build-up before the racing begins.

We’ll position ourselves around the start area as the peloton prepares for another huge day before watching the riders roll out of Keswick.

After the race has departed, we’ll return to our hotel and enjoy the rest of the afternoon in the Lake District. Depending on timing and conditions, there may be an opportunity for a short spin, or you can put your feet up and enjoy a well-earned recovery day.

Tour de France Stage 3, Welshpool to Cardiff

DATE: Sunday, 4 July 2027

Today we follow the Tour south into Wales for the third and final stage of the 2027 Grand Départ in Great Britain.

After breakfast, we’ll leave the Lake District and travel towards Cardiff, where the opening British chapter of the Tour de France reaches its conclusion.

Stage finishes are completely different to stage starts. The anticipation builds throughout the afternoon as spectators gather, the big screens follow the race and updates begin filtering through from the road.

Then the helicopters appear.

The noise builds.

And suddenly the Tour is coming.

We’ll experience the atmosphere around the Cardiff finish as the riders race towards the line and the battle for the yellow jersey continues.

Afterwards, we’ll check into our Cardiff hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening. We’ve now experienced the Team Presentation and all three opening stages across Scotland, England and Wales, but we’re not finished yet.

Tomorrow, the bikes come back out.

Cycling Bannau Brycheiniog, Brecon Beacons National Park

DATE: Monday, 5 July 2027
LOCATION: Cardiff

After three huge days immersed in the Tour de France, today is about getting back on the bike.

We’ll travel from Cardiff into Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons National Park, for our final major ride of the tour.

The Welsh landscape gives us a brilliant finale. Expect mountain roads, reservoirs, open moorland, green valleys and plenty of climbing. The roads rise and fall constantly, rewarding the effort with expansive views and long descents through some of the best cycling country in South Wales.

Choose the shorter route for a rewarding final ride or join our guides for the extended option if there’s still plenty left in the legs.

There is something particularly satisfying about riding together after several days watching the world’s best cyclists race. The conversations inevitably turn to what we’ve seen, favourite moments and just how quickly professional riders seem to make difficult roads disappear beneath them.

Tonight we’ll celebrate the end of the tour with our Farewell Dinner and drinks in Cardiff.

Ten days, three nations, some brilliant riding and the opening chapter of the 2027 Tour de France.

That’s worth raising a glass to.

Cardiff to London, Farewell

DATE: Tuesday, 6 July 2027
LOCATION: Tour concludes at London Heathrow Airport

After breakfast, it’s time to pack the bikes, say goodbye to Cardiff and begin the journey home.

Our scheduled group transfer will depart Cardiff for London Heathrow Airport, marking the end of our 2027 Tour de France Grand Départ Tour.

By now, you’ll have ridden through Scotland, England and Wales, experienced the Tour de France Team Presentation beneath Edinburgh Castle and followed all three opening stages of the Grand Départ across Great Britain.

But, as always, it’s usually the smaller moments that stay with you, a quiet Scottish road, coffee with the group, the first sound of the race helicopter approaching, standing beside a barrier as the peloton flashes past or sharing stories over dinner after another memorable day.

That’s what a Bikestyle Tours trip is really about.

Safe travels, and we’ll see you on the road again soon.

We recommend thoroughly reading the cancellation policies before making any decisions. Cancellations made within 90 days of the 2025 Giro d’Italia tour departure will result in a total loss of payment. It is strongly recommended to secure travel insurance upon booking.

Our Giro d’Italia tour covers the final two weeks of the race. Due to the locations it visits, it’s not practical to attend the race for just a day or two. Based on our experience, a two-week duration provides the best Giro experience.

The official route for the 2025 Giro race will be released in early November. However, our tour will cover the final two weeks of racing and will finish on the 2nd of June.

Yes, the 2025 Giro d’Italia is generally more challenging than a Tour de France cycling tour. It has steeper climbs, and the weather can be cooler, with many mountain passes still covered in snow, but it offers breathtaking views on every ride.
