Tour Style
Group Size: 34 guests, 6 professional guides and a chauffeur.
Rides: We are staying in the French Pyrenees, so there are many rides involving climbing, but we also have several roads that take advantage of gravity and follow the valleys.
Challenge Rating: Each day we have two ride options, a shorter, more gentle ride and a longer ride involving climbing. There is always the opportunity to extend the long ride with more climbing or more miles.
Accommodation: We are staying in three separate hotels. Our hotels in the South West of France are in quiet country villages with great access to the mountains. They are privately run hotels. We finish our trip at a 4-star hotel in Paris, near to the vibrant district of Cour-Saint-Emilion.
Trip Suitability
Social Riding and Leisure: We understand that your cycling holiday is a HOLIDAY! You may not normally ride every day at home. Our ride routes allow you to cherry-pick the sort of riding that you’d like to do. Choose the days you want to climb, the days to ride flat, and days to rest.
Experienced Riders: Your cycling holiday is actually about the bike! Our epic and challenging ride options seek more vertical meters and longer miles. Choose your rest days or recovery rides, or just ride, and ride, and ride.
Cycling Partners and Spectators: You are not interested in riding yourself, but you are a cycling enthusiast who would like to experience the Tour de France live. Whether your partner is a rider, you want to experience the culture along with seeing the race. We have off-the-bike itineraries for you to see the most spectacular areas, such as the plus-beaux (most-beautiful) villages.

Your cycling holiday to the Pyrenees coincides with the final week of the French Grand Tour, the 2022 Tour de France. We get you to see a variety of race situations, a truly immersive experience in the fanfare of the Tour de France. We go to the summit finish on Hautacam, one of the most demanding climbs of the 2022 Tour de France. We also follow the exciting finish in Foix, where riders finish under the impressive Château de Foix, and is known as the centre of the Cathars. Your trip finishes in Paris after a high-speed train journey. You Bikestyle team will look after every detail, including taking your heavy luggage and bike to Paris for you to enjoy a Paris Sights bike ride before the Grand Tour finishes on the Champs-Elysees.
See the Tour de France live and ride some of the famous climbs yourself. If you can only spare a week to see the tour, this is a great opportunity to see the Tour de France and ride your bike in the Pyrenees. Join the many of our guests who hire bikes from us, a convenient way to travel light and extend a European holiday with some magnificent cycling. This trip is great to share with your non-cycling partner.
2019 and 2020 were isolating years and we too experienced the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) feeling as we watched our favourite roads being torn up by the peloton – even a stage being taken by a young Australian. The last 2 years have been nothing short of extraordinary with the emergence of the young tour riders. Escape the FOMO in 2022 and join us as the short stages and punchy climbs capture an international audience in the world’s biggest annual sporting event.

Bienvenue, Welcome to South-West France

Welcome to South West France, the gateway to the Pyrenees.
Our staff will meet you at Toulouse-Blagnac airport at 10 am. Toulouse is known as la Ville Rose or pink city. It is a vibrant university city and space and technology centre with the headquarters of Airbus and a Space museum. It has grand architectural buildings and has one of the world’s best wine bars. It is well worth arriving a day or two early and exploring the beautiful and welcoming city.
Your luxury coach and professional staff will transport us to Quillan, a short distance south of Toulouse. Quillan is situated on the Aude river between the Pyrenees and Carcassonne. It is one of the most spectacular locations in France and is surrounded by many amazing ancient Cathar sites. We always enjoy our stay at this great hotel adjacent to the town square.
Join us for dinner tonight at our hotel restaurant as we meet our fellow guests and importantly your guides who will help you maximise your experience with Bikestyle Tours at Tour de France.
DAILY HIGHLIGHTS
- Collection from Toulouse-Blagnac airport
- Welcome dinner in French village
- Warm-up ride through the quiet French countryside
We have a shakedown ride this afternoon for us to acclimatise to riding in France. We will ride along very quiet rides among spectacular scenery. There is a longer option, but no stress in choosing your ride. You can make that choice on how you feel on the day.
Catharism and the Tour in the Ariege

See the stage twice, including a stage finish into Foix
We have the option to ride the short distance to Foix following sections of today’s race route. Foix is a popular finish town for the Tour de France. Our itinerary will be simple: arrive early, take a ride before seeing the race a first time and return to Foix to watch the lead riders race for victory.
For the non-riders today, you can spend the day in Foix, walk up to the Chateau de Foix, a 7th-century fortification for spectacular views and gain an understanding of the history of the area.
Tonight we return to Quillan, which was a finishing town for the 2021 Tour de France, and you are free to wander around this stunning village and enjoy the slow pace of a quiet French village. You are free to choose any local restaurant for dinner tonight. Though, our hotel is one of the finest choices in town.
DAILY HIGHLIGHTS
- Montsegur Castle
- Foix Castle
- Stage 16 Finish to Foix
Our long ride today starts from our hotel and climbs over Montsegur, a climb used by the Tour de France on several occasions, as recently as 2021. Montsegur was the site of a symbolic massacre of the Cathars in the 13th century. We descend to join onto today race route and will continue on to watch the race pass before finishing our ride in Foix for today’s finish.
Our shorter ride starts and finishes in Foix, with the option to climb up to Prat d’Albis.
Off to the Pyrenees

Watch the Tour de France in the Pyrenees.
We depart southwest France and follow the foot of the Pyrenees mountains toward the Atlantic coast. We will stop at the spa town of Bagneres de Bigorre and ride to watch today’s stage as they start their second climb.
We will be at our hotel at a reasonable time tonight to prepare for another big day at the Tour de France tomorrow for the last opportunity for the climbers.
Our home for the next 3 nights will be in the heart of the Pyrenees. We are lucky for some incredible riding over the next couple of days.
DAILY HIGHLIGHTS
- Stage 17 Pyrenees Mountain Stage
- Ride the climb, watch the peloton
- Climb Col d’Aspin
We will ride from Bagneres de Bigorre to the base of Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin and Hourquette d’Anzican. What to choose! We’ll tackle Tourmalet without being pushed for time, and instead, we’ll head up Hourquette to watch the race come through. We can return the same way and watch the finish of the race in a local bar. You will have the opportunity to tick off the summit to Col d’Aspin if you choose to.
Hautacam stage finish and Tourmalet

Ride the legendary climb of Tour de France, Col du Tourmalet and see the race on a summit finish.
Col du Tourmalet is the legendary climb of the Tour de France and was first included in the 1910 edition when it was gravel. We can head off early in the morning and our legs will quickly warm up with the gradual climb out of the village. We will climb the Tourmalet from the Western side, which is 19km in length. Once reaching the summit, you can then return down the valley, enjoy a fuelling lunch, and stop off to see the summit finish up Hautacam.
After watching the race come through on the finishing ascent to Hautacam, you can return directly to our hotel for an evening meal together and share your adventures of the day in the Pyrenees with the 2022 Tour de France.
DAILY HIGHLIGHTS
- Climb legendary Col du Tourmalet
- See Stage 18 finish on Hautacam
Our feature ride today is up Col du Tourmalet. We will leave early to relieve you of any time pressures for reaching the summit. Riding in the Pyrenees is very different to the Alps, forests are lusher, you’re likely to meet cows, sheep, horses and lots of other wildlife.
If you like to experience the full festival on Hautacam, pack a picnic lunch and head straight up Hautacam for the race, it will be a spectacular finish and our hotel is at the bottom of the descent.
2 cols One day for magnificent views

Our final day in the Pyrenees is scenic splendour
The Tour de France starts making its way toward Paris. We will catch them again on our high-speed train journey after we finish our business in the Pyrenees.
One of the most spectacular roads in France is the balcony connecting Col du Soulor and Col d’Aubisque. The race ventured over it yesterday and added another climb in the middle, just for good measure. We will have a lot more time to meet the locals (mostly sheep and horses), but most importantly, enjoy the view along Cirque du Litor. There are no time pressures today, so we can pause for lunch at the summit before returning for lots of photos.
DAILY HIGHLIGHTS
- Ride along a spectacular balcony road
- Climb two famous Pyrenean climbs
- Col du Soulor and Col d’Aubisque
Our rides today head up to Col d’Aubisque, our first summit though is Col du Soulor. The climb is easily broken into sections, where the initial climb out of the village has you questioning your endeavours. But it does flatten out and gets easier. Once you reach the next village, the gradient kicks up once more and it is not far to reach Col du Soulor, where our support team will welcome you and cheer you on. Refuel and the gentle gradient has you arrive at the top of Aubisque. We can stop for lunch before returning back, remember there was a bit of downhill when you climbed up!
300kph to Paris on the TGV

Take the pleasure way to Paris, comfort and without luggage.
Our team will transport your bike and luggage to Paris, while you can take the more comfortable, and much faster way on the TGV. Reaching speeds over 300kph, France’s high-speed train network revolutionised their connectedness for business, family and leisure. They have created a network that is the envy of many other nations.
We will arrive in Paris this afternoon, for you to be able to watch the important time trial at a local Paris bar, in the niche village of Paris-Bercy where our hotel is located.
Tonight we will celebrate our Tour de France trips with a private Bikestyle Tours function, where all of our guests across our trips can share their stories of triumph, despair, and new friendships. Welcome to the Bikestyle family.
DAILY HIGHLIGHTS
- TGV to Paris
- Transport of heavy luggage and bikes separately
- The farewell function includes food and wine
Paris Sites and Champs Elysees Finale

Rise early for the Paris Sights bike ride, and celebrate the arrival of the Tour de France.
Our morning starts with a bike ride. We return for a long breakfast, to fuel us for the day. Later in the day, we will set off to watch the Tour de France. Our staff will help you with the French Metro system so that you can return at your own leisure.
We will see the opening stage of the inaugural Tour de France Femmes event before the finale of the 3-week Grand Tour is finalised. Who will win the famous stage on the Champs Elysees?
Why not extend your trip and follow the Women’s tour through the Champagne region and in the Vosges mountains, completing a spectacular circumnavigation of France with incredible riding, exciting racing and great friendships.
DAILY HIGHLIGHTS
- Tour de France on Champs Elysees
- Women’s opening stage of the Tour de France
- Transfers to and from Champs Elysees
Before breakfast, we will set off through the city enjoying the iconic landmarks that draw people from all over the world. There are few places more iconic than Paris. There is no better way to see the city without the crowds, in our ride along the Seine. Notre Dame, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower are all on our course.
Thank, Bon voyage. Au Revoir
