Exploring Western Australia
For years, many Australian’s living in Eastern Australia have overlooked a trip to Western Australia to head overseas instead. With international travel restricted, why not book your Western Australia bike tour in the South West corner, visiting the amazing Margaret River region.
With rolling vineyards set against a backdrop of breathtaking coastal and forest scenery, our cycling experience will start off in the Bunbury region with 4 nights at the Ferguson Farmstay in spacious chalet accommodation. Located in the Darling Ranges we will have easy access to amazing riding, wineries, microbreweries and art galleries
It would not be a trip to Western Australia without visiting Margaret River. Our final 3 nights will be spent in Margaret River itself where we will spend the mornings riding and the afternoon exploring wineries and the local attractions, and restaurants. It does not get any better.

Welcome to Perth
Our trip starts with staff meeting you at Perth Airport at 11.00am. There will be someone to meet you at the Airport and assist you to our vehicle. After we collect everyone we will be on our way to our accommodation, the Ferguson Farmstay just outside of beautiful Bunbury.
Our staff will be on hand to help you assemble your bike before we head out for a shakedown ride to ensure your bike is working 100% correctly.
Tonight a welcome dinner for you to meet your fellow riders and probably share a glass of WA wine!
- Welcome dinner
- Shakedown ride to meet your fellow guests
We head out for a shakedown ride to ensure your bike is working 100% correctly, we will take an easy 30km ride through the Ferguson Valley.
Ferguson Falls Winery
After a good breakfast, we will head out for our ride for the day. Our ride is prominently flat with the challenge to negotiate a few climbs in between. We will make our way down to Donnybrook, the apple capital of the west for a coffee. On our way back to home we will make a stop at a somewhat “unusual” local attraction, Gnomesville, home to an estimated 10,000 garden Gnomes.
After our ride, we will have time to freshen up before enjoying a relaxing lunch at Ferguson Falls Winery. For those who still have the energy after lunch, we will make a trip to the Bunbury Farmers Market where you can grab some local produce for dinner.
- Lunch at Ferguson Falls Winery
- Bunbury Farmers Market
- Wellington State Forest
We have a great 90km ride install today. We will enjoy a mostly flat first 50km of our ride before reaching our climb for the day, a gentle 6km through the Wellington State Forest. We have a downhill run back to our accommodation.
Collie River Valley National Park
After a solid day yesterday, we will have a little easier ride today on the quietest of roads in and around the Collie River Valley National Park. The ride will feature two solid climbs though we will stop for a coffee at the Wellington Reservoir Dam kiosk to freshen the legs before heading back to the farmstay.
For lunch, we will visit another local winery, Hackersley Estate. After lunch, you will be free to enjoy some of the many activities at the farmstay (fishing, tennis or just relax).
- Wine tasting Hackersley Estate
- Collie River Valley National Park
We have very quiet roads for today’s ride with a beautiful steady but small climb up the Collie River Valley. We will have plenty of time to enjoy the very picturesque Collie River Valley
After a few days exploring the WA countryside and wineries our ride today will head towards the coast and visit Bunbury. Bunbury is renowned for its wild but friendly bottlenose dolphins which can be seen on the shores of Koombana Bay. We have time up our sleeve today so we will enjoy Bunbury before returning to the farmstay by bike.
Tonight we will enjoy dinner together for our last night at the Ferguson Farmstay.
- Visit beautiful Bunbury
- Koombana Bay and bottlenose dolphins
We have a nice flat ride for our last day at the Ferguson Farmstay. Our ride takes us through the Ferguson Valley on the way out to the coast and Bunbury. We will take a coffee stop at the local bike/coffee shop and check out the local cycling scene.
Busselton to Margaret River
Today we are off to Busselton to start our ride into the heart of wine country, Margaret River. We will depart by van and drive the short distance to Busselton. Busselton is famous for the Busselton Ironman event and the iconic 1.7km jetty which features an underwater observatory.
Our ride will see us leave Busselton by bike and ride via Eagle Bay to Margaret River and our accommodation for the next 3 nights.
Tonight you are free to explore one of the many restaurants in town.
- Margaret River, heart of wine country
- Visit Busselton and Eagle Bay
Our ride starts from Busselton as we hug the coastline to Eagle Bay and the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse. After a quick photo, we will continue south to Gracetown just a short distance to our stop for the next 3 nights, Busselton.
Exploring Margaret River
After a few bigger days on the bike, we will have an easier ride today through the Margaret River wineries. With our mouths salivating, we will rack our bike and then visit the wineries later today.
We will return to our accommodation in time to freshen up and grab a light lunch. This afternoon we will have a guided tour of some of the famous Margaret River Estates. Our tour goes for most of the afternoon so you may choose a light dinner tonight in one of the local restaurants.
- Half-day winery tour, Margaret River wineries
- Explore Margaret River by bike
Today we will take a “bike eyes” view of the famous Margaret River wineries by bike. Our ride will weave through the local wine region and Forest Grove National Park before making our way back to our hotel.
Today we will venture to the furthest southwest corner of the Australian continent, the town of Augusta. Our shorter ride today will take a direct route to Augusta with the longer option hugging the coastline travelling right to the tip of Cape Leeuwin before finishing in Augusta. We will spend the afternoon in Augusta and return to our accommodation by van.
Tonight we will enjoy our final night together with a farewell dinner.
- Visit Cape Leeuwin
- Lunch Augusta
- Ride to the furthest southwest corner of the Australian continent
- Farewell Dinner
We will leave Margaret River by bike and ride to the furthest southwest corner of the Australian continent and onto to Augusta for lunch. For those who would like a few extra km’s we will have the option to ride back to our hotel.
Time to Head Home
Sadly our trip comes to an end today, not before sharing a fantastic week of riding, sightseeing and wineries together.
After breakfast, we will depart for Perth Airport. It is a solid drive so we will make a stop along the way. We expect to arrive at Perth Airport at 3.00 pm. Please organise your return flights after 4.30 pm just to be safe.
