RIDE RATINGS

All of our trips allow you to choose a suitable ride each day. We offer alternative ride options on most days and we try to give you as much information as possible to choose your ride. We rate each ride on various factors; distance, total climbing, intensity and altitude. Unfortunately, we can’t forecast the weather when designing our rides, but your trip leader will advise you on any precautions. In your itinerary you will see a rating for each ride option - similar to the table and diagram below. This will help you choose which ride will be best for you. Don't worry, you can make a decision the day of the ride depending on how you feel. We rate rides based on the following criteria.

Ride Rating
DistanceSHORT: less than 30km
MEDIUM: between 30km and 80km (depending on the total climbing).
LONG: more than 80 km
AscentTotal climbing (ascending) for the day, anything over 2000m is a big day
IntensitySome rides may have time constraints. Our rides vary from EASY, MODERATE to HARD.
AltitudeSome of our rides may go into alpine areas where thinner air affects your intake of oxygen.
Suitability
Spectators and Off the Bike

Racing fans are always welcome! Our primary focus is the cycling race and riding our bikes. We often follow the race course and always cherry pick the most spectacular cycling roads. Our support van is used predominantly to rendezvous with our cyclists to refuel riders. By joining our support van, our non-cyclists experience some beautiful countryside one would not normally see.

Our non-cycling itinerary ideal for a non-riding partner. There are always villages to explore, cultures to experience and great photographic opportunities.

Social Riding and Leisure

We understand that your cycling holiday is a HOLIDAY! We understand that you don't normally ride everyday at home and our itinerary enables you to enjoy the experience without suffering through miles on the road to reach the best section of the ride.

Our rides have shorter options for you to experience the challenge of riding the world's great cycling roads (they are often climbs). However, some training will always enhance your experience!

Experienced Riders

Your cycling holiday is all actually about the bike! Our epic and challenge ride options seek more vertical metres and longer miles. Even at the completion of our longer ride itineraries there is opportunity for a second (or third) summit for the day, or completing the ride to your hotel (sometimes it's faster!).

Your knowledgeable tour guide's will meet your desire for extending most of our planned rides. Guests who follow our longest ride option each day often complete more than 12,000 m (30,000 ft) of climbing within a week.

The full three-week experience

Experience the ultimate Tour de France trip. Complete with the nervous energy of the first week, tricky transition stages, the mountain attacks and opportunistic breakaways. Finish your trip on the Champs-Élysées, hours after having ridden it yourself. Riders will pass the famous landmarks of the Grand Palais and the Arc de Triomphe before crowning the 2019 winner. Enquire at the time of booking about VIP experiences.

Our trip starts in Belgium with a homage to Eddy Merckx before we enter France and travel through the southern regions of Central Massif, the Pyrenees and the Alps. Tick off the bucket list of the most famous cycling routes, enjoy the great wine regions and immerse into the French culture. Our grand tour is designed for cyclists. During the trip you’re able to take a rest-day and enjoy a non-cycling itinerary for the day.

Our carefully designed itinerary minimises transfers and gives you additional time at each hotel, so that you can relax, enjoy riding and recharge yourself during your Tour de France trip. You will travel like a professional cyclist in our custom fitted luxury coach – with its own toilet, bar, reclining seats and coffee machine. It will also meet you at the end of rides allowing you to have a hot shower before heading off for a drink or watching the race.
