All of our trips allow you to choose a suitable ride each day. We offer alternative ride options on most days and we try to give you as much information as possible to choose your ride. We rate each ride on various factors; distance, total climbing, intensity and altitude. Unfortunately, we can’t forecast the weather when designing our rides, but your trip leader will advise you on any precautions. In your itinerary you will see a rating for each ride option - similar to the table and diagram below. This will help you choose which ride will be best for you. Don't worry, you can make a decision the day of the ride depending on how you feel. We rate rides based on the following criteria.
|Distance||SHORT: less than 30km|
|MEDIUM: between 30km and 80km (depending on the total climbing).|
|LONG: more than 80 km|
|Ascent||Total climbing (ascending) for the day, anything over 2000m is a big day|
|Intensity||Some rides may have time constraints. Our rides vary from EASY, MODERATE to HARD.|
|Altitude||Some of our rides may go into alpine areas where thinner air affects your intake of oxygen.|
Social Riding and Leisure
We understand that your cycling holiday is a HOLIDAY! We understand that you don't normally ride everyday at home and our itinerary enables you to enjoy the experience without suffering through miles on the road to reach the best section of the ride.
Our rides have shorter options for you to experience the challenge of riding the world's great cycling roads (they are often climbs). However, some training will always enhance your experience!
Your cycling holiday is all actually about the bike! Our epic and challenge ride options seek more vertical metres and longer miles. Even at the completion of our longer ride itineraries there is opportunity for a second (or third) summit for the day, or completing the ride to your hotel (sometimes it's faster!).
Your knowledgeable tour guide's will meet your desire for extending most of our planned rides. Guests who follow our longest ride option each day often complete more than 12,000 m (30,000 ft) of climbing within a week.

4 Star Hotels
Historic Spanish town of Girona and the mountains of Catalonia
An 11 day private cycling trip for the Martinis cycling group based around the historic Spanish town of Girona in Catalonia, 90kms east of Barcelona. The first 7 nights will be spent in a comfortable 4 star hotel in the old town of Girona, with rides following the training routes of the pro-riders who call Girona home. You’ll be supported by two experienced Bikestyle Tours cycling guides, with a support van and driver carrying your gear and offering assistance as needed. We’ll spend a total of 7 nights in lively Girona, and 3 nights in the more remote mountains north of Girona for the some of the more challenging rides of the trip.
Rides will range from 40 to 100 kms with a variety of routes available up in to the surrounding mountains or visiting the nearby Costa Brava coastal towns. Most days we’ll aim to finish all of our rides by early afternoon, leaving the rest of the day to relax and have a siesta. On most days there will be an easier and a harder version of the days ride, following the same circuit but with a variation to cut down kms and the amount of climbing for the easier ride. All rides are designed to be ridden without any vehicle transfers, including the ride from Girona to Camprodon in the mountains, where our luggage will travel in the van but you will ride the full distance. A support van will be available should you need to jump in and take a rest, but will be limited to 7 passengers at one time. As a private group we can maintain some flexibility each day to modify our plans based on factors such as the weather, how the group is feeling and to suit riders of different abilities.
The trip will finish in Girona on Wednesday June 8th, allowing people to return to Australia by Thursday evening or Friday morning from nearby Barcelona airport. Girona is approximately 1.5 hours transfer from Barcelona airport. We can arrange private transfers for the start and finish of the trip. The cost will be based on the number of people on each transfer.
If you wish to arrive before the trip start, or stay on an extra night or two in Girona, we can arrange accommodation at our trip hotel or in Barcelona.
