My wife (Ruth) and I joined Bikestyle tours on their 2025 Vuelta Espana Tour. Having had a really positive experience with Bikestyle on the 2011 TdF tour, we were confident that this tour would also be great, but I have to say it exceeded expectations. Firstly, the hotels were exceptional. I can only imagine how hard it was to find suitable accommodation for a group in some of these out of the way regions. The Las Caldas hotel and the Monastery at Santo Estevo were standouts but all of the hotels were great and a step up from our last tour. Secondly, we loved our guides, Eric and Claire. They were truly extraordinary and we were so lucky to have them guide us around. The group on this tour was quite small (only seven people) and so there was even more pressure on them, as they were spending a lot more time in contact with each of us. We thoroughly enjoyed their company, not just as guides but as great people. I was particularly grateful for the extra kindness and attention that Claire showed to Ruth (as the only female rider in the group and who was very self conscious about not wanting to hold people up). Claire did an amazing job of managing a variety of different riding abilities which, in a small group, was much more challenging. Thirdly, the organisation and logistics were great. The whole tour went seamlessly, even with unexpected events such as the protests that occurred. It was also great that Eric was able to wangle us into a team bus and have some contact with the Teams which was very special. There was a very good balance between riding and watching the race in the various locations and we felt that we saw as much of the race as we needed to. All in all, we had a great time. We are already looking ahead for our next one. Thanks again to Adam and the whole team.![]()

Thanks Eric, Claire and the Bikestyle crew for a wonderful La Vuelta trip this year. The itinerary, hotels and group dinners were all first class. Thanks especially to Claire for her support in getting to the top of L’Angliru. Definitely one to tick off the bucket list!![]()

We loved every minute of our recent 2025 La Vuelta trip with my wife attending as a non-riding spectator. Eric & Claire were fantastic guides / friends throughout our Spanish journey with Sue becoming a quasi member of the Bikestyle team. We would highly recommend Bikestyle Tours to anyone considering their 1st cycling tour either as a rider or spectator.![]()

Update: Another great trip in 2025! Update: Tour de France Femmes 2023 was THE BEST. Thanks Adam, Petra, Sophie and especially Alex who rode up Tourmelet 3 times in a day to help us. Photo is Pic de Nore, gorgeous riding. Bikestyle are an absolute pleasure to travel with. Friendly, easy to get on with and really know their stuff. They're organised but flexible so everything happens but always in a relaxed laid back way. Another highlight is the great people they seem to attract, I've always met people I really like to ride with and travel with in bikestyle groups. The trips I've done with bikestyle have been some of my best memories and I look forward to travelling with them again in the future.![]()

To all cycling enthusiasts out there, do yourself a favour and book a cycling adventure with BIKESTYLE TOURS. It is just an amazing experience. I was very much looking forward to the last week of the Tour de France 2025 in the months leading up to event, but when it was actually happening it was so much better than I imagined. Everything about the event was superb. The planning that goes into an event such as this is a credit to Adam and his sensational crew of people on the ground to make it an unforgettable time. I could not fault anything on the tour. They had thought of everything and were flexible and accommodating along the way. Meals, accommodation, cycle routes, transport, bikes and knowledge transfer from the staff were all first class. Being in the French Alps is a majestic experience and to be able to check out the landscape on a bike is incredible. I would like to think I can do something like this again. Having done it once it, it is most tempting to give another tour ago in the not too distant future. Fabulous time!! Michael J Royal![]()

I have just completed the 2022 Giro Tour with Bikestyle. What a fantastic experience. From when I first contacted Adam, we had to battle through covid and lockdown. He was so accommodating and supportive. On the trip he is the perfect tour leader and guide, cool, calm, fun and generous with his time. He is well backed up by ex pro Eric De Clerc, super experienced, interested in talking about his life as a rider but also yours. Diego is Adam’s go to man for Italy, fluent in 4 languages, the most helpful guy who is so passionate about cycling and his country. Bruno was our driver, so good to have Frenchman along. Couldn’t get a better driver but also fun to be around and do anything for you. I achieved my goal of climbing the Stelvio on a brilliant day along with some other fabulous climbs. But more than that, we watched the Giro racing through villages and finally culminating in the arena in Verona with a win to Jai Hindley. Seems Adam can organise anything, weather and a spectacular Giro win too. Thanks guys, can’t recommend you enough.![]()

This was a great trip. There is nothing like doing bucket list climbs in Europe and having all the logistics sorted for you, and a great bunch of people to ride with. This was the 4th Bikestyle trip I’ve been on (each different) and each time on my own. Every time the trips are well organised, the guides are really good (exceptional experience- how often do you get to ride with a 5x TdF finisher!) and the other guests are always ‘likeminded’ and good fun. Thanks BS.![]()

We just returned from Bikestyle Tours Spectator Tour for the Tour de France. It was an amazing experience and Bikestyle had every aspect of the trip planned to perfection. The transport, the hotels, the dinners, and our two exceptional tour hosts made this trip such a pleasure. We recommend them completely and without qualification! Thank you Bikestyle for the trip of a lifetime!Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 105 reviews

Great accommodation makes a big difference on a challenging cycling tour, particularly when you’re spending ten days riding some of France’s biggest climbs. For this private tour, we’ve selected three very different properties that combine location, comfort and the chance to properly recover between rides.
L’Argalyde Wellness & Cycling, French Pyrenees, 4 nights
We begin with four nights at L’Argalyde, a 5-star cycling and wellness residence designed with cyclists in mind. With spacious accommodation, secure bike storage, a fully equipped bike workshop and excellent wellness facilities, it’s an ideal base for riding the great climbs of the Pyrenees.
Domaine du Val de Sault, Provence, 2 nights
At the foot of Mont Ventoux, Domaine du Val de Sault provides a more luxurious stay surrounded by the landscapes of Provence. For these two nights, every guest will have their own private room within the apartment-style accommodation, giving everyone additional space and privacy to relax and recover. With swimming pools, wellness facilities and views towards Mont Ventoux, it’s a pretty special base for our time in Provence.
Hôtel Le Castillan, Alpe d’Huez, 4 nights
We finish with four nights directly on Alpe d’Huez at Hôtel Le Castillan. Its location puts us right among the legendary roads of the French Alps, while the traditional alpine setting provides a comfortable base to relax after some of the biggest riding days of the tour.
It’s an unusually high standard of accommodation for a mountain-focused cycling tour, and an important part of how we’ve designed this private experience.
Group Size: 8–15 guests, supported by 3 experienced Bikestyle Tours staff
Designed for intermediate and experienced riders, this private tour brings together three of France’s great cycling regions, the Pyrenees, Provence and the French Alps. The focus is on riding many of the climbs that have shaped the history of professional cycling, while still allowing time to recover, enjoy the destinations and experience each region properly.
With two cycling guides, a dedicated driver and mechanic, support vehicle, ride nutrition and mechanical assistance throughout, the tour is fully supported from start to finish.
Riding Experience
This is a mountain-focused cycling tour featuring an exceptional collection of climbs, including Hautacam, Col du Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Col du Soulor, Col d’Aubisque, Mont Ventoux, Alpe d’Huez, Col du Galibier, Col de Sarenne, Col du Glandon and Croix de Fer.
The riding changes noticeably as we move across France. The Pyrenees bring steeper valleys, quieter mountain roads and traditional villages, Provence is all about the distinctive landscape and challenge of Mont Ventoux, while the French Alps deliver longer climbs, higher passes and spectacular alpine scenery.
Ride Flexibility
You don’t need to complete every climb or every kilometre to enjoy this tour. Where practical, we’ll provide shorter and longer ride options, allowing riders to choose the challenge that suits them each day.
You might tackle one major climb instead of two, add extra kilometres when the legs are feeling good, take a recovery day or use the support vehicle for part of the route. With a small group and high level of staff support, we have the flexibility to adapt as the tour progresses.
The aim is simple, to enjoy riding some of France’s greatest cycling roads without turning every day into a test.
This private tour has been designed specifically for a group of intermediate to experienced cyclists who are comfortable riding longer distances and tackling sustained mountain climbs.
The itinerary brings together some of France’s most celebrated cycling roads across the Pyrenees, Provence and French Alps, with a combination of major climbing days, easier riding, transfer days and recovery opportunities.
Intermediate Riders
You should arrive with good cycling fitness and experience riding longer climbs. On the bigger mountain days, shorter ride options and vehicle support provide the flexibility to manage the amount of climbing and distance you take on.
Experienced Riders
For stronger riders, this itinerary offers an exceptional collection of mountains, including Hautacam, Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Aubisque, Mont Ventoux, Alpe d’Huez, Galibier, Sarenne, Glandon and Croix de Fer.
Longer options on selected days provide additional distance and climbing, while the recovery and transfer days are deliberately positioned to help you arrive ready for the tour’s biggest mountain stages.
With experienced guides, mechanical assistance and dedicated vehicle support throughout, you can focus on enjoying some of the best mountain cycling in France.
All buffet breakfasts, dinner on 6 nights.
When you travel with Bikestyle Tours, the complicated part of riding across three of France’s great mountain regions is taken care of. We manage the accommodation, transfers, route planning, bike logistics and on-road support so you can focus on the reason you’re here, riding some seriously good mountains.

From the legendary climbs of the Pyrenees to Mont Ventoux and the high roads of the French Alps, our team takes care of the logistics so you can concentrate on the riding, the mountains and enjoying France from the saddle.
There aren’t many cycling tours where you can ride the Pyrenees, Mont Ventoux and French Alps in the same trip. Each region has its own character, and that variety is one of the things we love most about this tour.
The Pyrenees feel raw and dramatic, with quiet mountain roads leading towards legendary climbs such as Hautacam, Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden and Aubisque. Then the landscape changes completely in Provence, where Mont Ventoux dominates the horizon and the classic climb from Bédoin delivers one of those days on the bike you’ll remember for years.
We finish in the French Alps, based directly on Alpe d’Huez and surrounded by some of cycling’s biggest names. Galibier, Sarenne, Glandon and Croix de Fer provide some spectacular final days, with the famous 21 switchbacks of Alpe d’Huez right outside our door.
What makes this itinerary particularly special is what happens off the bike as well. We’ve secured an unusually high standard of accommodation for a mountain cycling tour, including a 5-star cycling and wellness residence in the Pyrenees, private-room apartment-style accommodation in Provence and four nights on Alpe d’Huez. After a big day in the mountains, having somewhere genuinely comfortable to recover, relax and enjoy the evening makes a real difference.
For us, this tour isn’t about ticking climbs off a list. It’s about spending eleven days riding through three very different parts of France, staying in some exceptional locations and enjoying the big mountains with great support, great company and enough flexibility to enjoy the experience properly.

This 11-day private cycling tour connects three of France’s great mountain cycling regions, beginning in the Pyrenees before travelling through Provence and finishing among the legendary roads of the French Alps.
Our journey begins at Toulouse Airport, where we meet the group and transfer into the Pyrenees for three memorable days of riding. Hautacam provides our introduction to the mountains before bigger days featuring the Col du Tourmalet and Luz Ardiden, followed by the spectacular Col du Soulor and Col d’Aubisque.
From the Pyrenees, we travel east across southern France to Provence and the village of Bédoin. Here we take on one of cycling’s most recognisable challenges, Mont Ventoux, climbing the classic route from Bédoin to its exposed summit.
The final part of the tour takes us into the French Alps, where we base ourselves on Alpe d’Huez for four nights. Riders can tackle the famous 21 switchbacks before exploring some of the region’s great high-mountain roads, including the Col du Lautaret, Col du Galibier and Col de Sarenne.
A deliberately flexible recovery day gives everyone the opportunity to rest or enjoy some easier riding around Bourg d’Oisans before our final Queen Stage, featuring the Col du Glandon and Croix de Fer.
We’ve also placed particular emphasis on the accommodation for this tour, with a 5-star cycling and wellness residence in the Pyrenees, premium apartment-style accommodation in Provence where every guest has their own room, and four nights directly on Alpe d’Huez. It’s an unusually high standard of accommodation for a mountain cycling tour and gives the group somewhere comfortable to properly recover between the bigger riding days.
Throughout the tour, our guides, mechanic and support vehicles take care of the daily logistics, navigation and bike support. Shorter and longer ride options on selected days also provide flexibility as we move through the mountains.
After our final night on Alpe d’Huez, we transfer to Lyon TGV Station on 12 July, bringing eleven days of riding across the Pyrenees, Provence and French Alps to a close.
Your Itinerary
Welcome to France and the Pyrenees
Welcome to France and the start of eleven days exploring some of the greatest cycling roads in the Pyrenees, Provence and French Alps.
We’ll meet at Toulouse Airport, load the bikes and luggage and begin our journey south towards the Pyrenees. As we leave Toulouse behind, the landscape gradually changes and the mountains that will shape our first few days begin to appear on the horizon.
After arriving at our hotel near Lourdes, there’ll be time to settle in while the team prepares the bikes. We’ll then run through the days ahead and make sure everything is ready for our first ride tomorrow.
Tonight is about settling into France, enjoying the company and getting ready for the mountains.

Hautacam, Our First Pyrenean Summit
There’s no gentle introduction to the famous mountains of the Pyrenees, today we ride Hautacam.
We’ve deliberately kept our first cycling day relatively compact, giving everyone time to settle into the bikes and find their climbing rhythm without emptying the tank too early in the tour.
As we leave the valley behind, Hautacam steadily reveals the scale of the Pyrenees around us. Settle into your own tempo, enjoy the changing views and save something for those final kilometres towards the summit.
After reaching the top, we’ll take some time to enjoy the mountain before descending for lunch. Those looking for a few more kilometres can continue with an easier loop through the Lourdes area, while anyone ready to put the feet up can call it a day.
One famous summit down, with plenty more to come.

Tourmalet & Luz Ardiden, A Big Day in the Pyrenees
Today we ride deep into Tour de France history with two of the Pyrenees’ most celebrated climbs.
First comes the Col du Tourmalet. It’s a mountain every cycling fan knows, but riding it yourself gives you a completely different appreciation of its length, landscape and history.
There’s no need to chase the clock. Find your rhythm and enjoy the journey as we climb towards one of cycling’s great mountain summits.
After descending, we’ll regroup in Luz-Saint-Sauveur for lunch before deciding who has another climb in the legs.
For those taking the longer option, Luz Ardiden awaits. Its succession of switchbacks carries us high above the valley for another classic Pyrenean ascent before we turn downhill for home.
Two iconic mountains and one very memorable day on the bike.
- Climb the legendary Col du Tourmalet
- Lunch in Luz-Saint-Sauveur
- Take on Luz Ardiden
- Two classic Pyrenean climbs in one day

Soulor & Aubisque, Classic Pyrenean Roads
Our final full day in the Pyrenees takes us onto one of the most spectacular mountain roads of the tour.
The Col du Soulor and Col d’Aubisque are a wonderful combination. Green valleys gradually give way to huge mountain views, with the road linking the two passes providing some quintessential Pyrenean riding.
Today is less about chasing another summit and more about enjoying where we are. These roads are famous because of the Tour de France, but away from race day they’re simply brilliant roads to ride.
Our support team will remain close throughout, allowing us to adjust the day if required. After the final descent, we’ll return to the hotel with three substantial Pyrenean days in the legs.
Tomorrow, the landscape changes completely.
- Climb the Col du Soulor
- Ride towards the Col d’Aubisque
- Spectacular high-mountain roads

Across France to Provence
After three days in the Pyrenees, today the bikes get a rest as we make our biggest move of the tour.
Following breakfast, we’ll leave the mountains behind and travel east across southern France towards Provence and Mont Ventoux.
It’s a longer transfer, around eight hours with stops along the way, but perfectly timed to give the legs a chance to recover.
As we approach Provence, the scenery begins to change. The green Pyrenean valleys give way to vineyards, limestone landscapes and the colours of southern France.
Our destination is Bédoin, or the surrounding area, at the foot of one of cycling’s most recognisable mountains.
Enjoy a relaxed evening because tomorrow morning, we ride Ventoux.
- Well-earned recovery day
- Travel across southern France
- Arrive in Provence
- Stay near the foot of Mont Ventoux
- Prepare for tomorrow’s Bédoin ascent

Mont Ventoux, The Giant of Provence
Today belongs to Mont Ventoux.
Long before we start climbing, the Giant of Provence dominates the landscape. We’ll ride the classic ascent from Bédoin, the side most cyclists dream of tackling when they first think about Ventoux.
The opening kilometres give us time to warm the legs before the road enters the forest and the real work begins. Eventually, the trees disappear and we emerge onto Ventoux’s unmistakable exposed upper slopes.
The scenery suddenly becomes stark, open and almost lunar, with the summit sitting above us.
Reaching the top of Mont Ventoux is one of those cycling moments worth taking some time to enjoy. Photos taken and breath recovered, we’ll descend back into Provence for a relaxed afternoon.
After Tourmalet, Aubisque and now Ventoux, the collection is starting to look pretty good.
- Climb Mont Ventoux from Bédoin
- Experience the famous forest section
- Ride Ventoux’s exposed upper slopes

Provence to Alpe d’Huez
It’s time for the final chapter of our journey, the French Alps.
We’ll leave Provence after breakfast and travel north towards Bourg d’Oisans and Alpe d’Huez. The mountains get progressively bigger as we approach the Oisans, one of the great cycling playgrounds of Europe.
Then comes today’s decision.
If the legs are feeling good, we can jump out of the vans in Bourg d’Oisans, clip in and ride the final kilometres to our hotel.
Of course, those final kilometres happen to be the 21 famous switchbacks of Alpe d’Huez.
There’s no pressure to ride. Anyone wanting a genuine recovery day can continue to the hotel in the support vehicle and save Alpe d’Huez for later in the tour.
Either way, tonight we settle into our Alpine base at the top of one of the most famous mountains in cycling.
- Leave Provence for the French Alps
- Arrive in the cycling hub of Bourg d’Oisans
- Optional Alpe d’Huez ascent
- Tackle the famous 21 switchbacks

Galibier & Sarenne, A Proper Day in the Alps
This is one of the big ones.
Today we head into the high French Alps towards the Col du Lautaret and Col du Galibier, surrounded by some of the biggest mountain scenery of the entire tour.
The Galibier needs little introduction. It’s one of the defining climbs of the Tour de France and a mountain that feels every bit as impressive when you finally ride it.
We’ll settle into our own rhythms on the climb, regroup at the top and take some time to enjoy one of the great panoramas of the trip.
But we’re not finished yet.
Our journey back towards Alpe d’Huez takes us via the Col de Sarenne, a quieter and more rugged alternative to the famous 21 switchbacks on the other side of the mountain.
By the time we roll back to the hotel, there’ll be no doubt we’ve had a proper day in the French Alps.
- Ride the Col du Lautaret
- Climb the legendary Col du Galibier
- Experience spectacular high-Alpine scenery
- Return towards Alpe d’Huez via Col de Sarenne

Recovery Day, Or 21 Switchbacks?
After yesterday’s Alpine adventure, today is deliberately flexible.
Sleep in, enjoy an easy spin, head down to Bourg d’Oisans for coffee, or simply put the feet up around the hotel. With our Queen Stage still to come, there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing very little.
However, if we haven’t yet ridden Alpe d’Huez, there is another option.
We’ll descend from the mountain via the spectacular balcony road, carved into the mountainside high above the valley, before rolling into Bourg d’Oisans for a well-earned coffee.
Then we turn around.
From the valley floor, the famous 21 switchbacks of Alpe d’Huez take us all the way back to our hotel. Forget racing the clock, find a comfortable rhythm, take in the names painted across the road and enjoy riding one of the most recognisable climbs in cycling.
For anyone who ticked off Alpe d’Huez on Day 7, today can remain exactly what it was designed to be, a recovery day.
- Flexible recovery day in the Oisans
- Optional spectacular balcony-road descent
- Coffee in Bourg d’Oisans
- Optional Alpe d’Huez ascent
- Finish directly at our hotel at the summit
- Save the legs for tomorrow’s Queen Stage

Queen Stage, Glandon & Croix de Fer
One final big day in the mountains, and we’ve saved something special.
Our Queen Stage takes us across the Col du Glandon and Croix de Fer, two classic Alpine passes surrounded by huge mountain scenery.
By now there are plenty of climbs in the legs, so today is all about pacing. Find your rhythm, eat and drink well and let our support team take care of everything else.
We’ll stop for lunch during the ride before continuing through the mountains and eventually making our way back towards Alpe d’Huez.
Over the past week we’ve ridden from the Pyrenees to Provence and into the Alps, taking on Hautacam, Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Aubisque, Mont Ventoux, Galibier and Sarenne along the way.
Finishing with Glandon and Croix de Fer seems only appropriate.
Tonight, the bikes can finally have a proper rest.
- Queen Stage of the tour
- Climb the Col du Glandon
- Ride the Croix de Fer
- Lunch in the mountains
- One final spectacular Alpine ride

Au Revoir France
After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Alpe d’Huez and bring our journey through the French mountains to an end.
Over eleven days we’ve travelled from the Pyrenees to Provence and into the French Alps, riding some of the roads that make France such a special destination for cyclists.
There’ll be plenty of famous names to look back on, Tourmalet, Aubisque, Ventoux, Alpe d’Huez, Galibier, Glandon and Croix de Fer, but some of the best memories will inevitably come from the roads, cafés, descents and moments in between.
We’ll pack the bikes and luggage for the final time before transferring as a group to Lyon TGV Station for onward travel.
Tired legs, a fairly serious collection of mountains and hopefully plenty of stories to take home.
