Your French experience starts with a short warm up ride. We will quickly access the country roads and shake off some travel legs and test out your bike ready for your cycling holiday in France.
Welcome to the Tour de France
Our trip starts with your guides meeting you at the Lyon Saint-Exupèry Airport at 10:00am. Lyon is a popular tourist city with a wonderful old town with medieval and Renaissance style. The gastronomy is exceptional, at one stage had the greatest number of michelin hat restaurants in the world. Recently, the city developed the “Confluence” quarter, where the Soâne joins the Rhône river. A vibrant district has formed around the Confluence museum, architecturally comparable to the Guggenheim in Bilbao. For us it provides great access to the French Alps. Arrive a day or two earlier, adjust to the time zone and enjoy this great city.
After a short transfer to our elegant chateaux, we will assemble our bikes and head out on a short warm up ride. We’ll quickly access the country roads and shake off some travel legs and test out your bike for your cycling holiday in France. Our ride loop of 30 km goes over a short climb and is perfect for testing out your lows gears as well. We will arrive back at our chateau in time to watch the finish of today’s time trial on television.
Tonight we’ll have a delicious dinner together with an accompanying drink. A great social opportunity to meet your fellow guests and staff. Most importantly, have any of your questions answered by your helpful staff.
TODAY IN THE RACE
Stage 13: Pau to Pau, Individual time-trial, 27 km
Mechanics will prepare the sleek rigs for riders on one of the most important stages of the 2019 Tour de France, an individual time-trial. Although it seems short, the undulations will favour a powerful all-rounder. The proud race leader tonight will receive a very special collector’s jersey, marking the 100th anniversary of the Maillot Jaune.
