Our Classico Journey 2019 Giro d’Italia

The Italian Grand Tour never disappoints with its epic stages, huge mountains, changing weather and great Italian culture. Our trip saw the key stage in the last 2 weeks.. — Arrival of the grand tour on Stage 12 It was in Pinerolo on the steep and narrow paved Via Principi d’Acaja (450 m with an average 14% gradient and peaks of 20%) that we first saw the Italy Grand Tour. From there the mountain stages came, thick and fast! First it was the Aosta Valley, we enjoyed scenic climbs among wineries. Our non-cyclists had fun too, on the cable car to Monte Bianco on the Italian-French border, before seeing a stage finish. Becoming a World Champion • by Richard Barville — We arrived in France about 10 days before the event, and joined a small crew from Bikestyle Tours to spend a few days in Toulouse, a few days in nearby Castres, then into Albi on the Thursday before race day. The weather was mostly fine and warm. We acclimatised to the time change and did several hilly rides in those lead-up days, then did a recon ride of the last 65km of the course on the Friday – checking out the main hills and the last few k’s into the finish. Saturday was mostly a rest day, but I did check the first and last 10 km of the course again, so that I knew where all the hazards were (road furniture etc) and what the finish looked like. 100 Years of the Giro d’Italia

2017 Giro Classico • by Lucy and Andrew Simmons –The 2017 Giro Classico trip with Bikestyle Tours marked the 100th Anniversary of the Giro d’Italia. My husband Andrew and I joined Bikestyle Tours on ‘our trip of a lifetime’ together. We chose a cyclists only trip and I was the only female among the 18 guests. Our 3 riding guides and bus driver took us to amazing places in following the Giro. We saw many stages and Andrew and I were finally able to fulfill our dream of being there, live with the pro cyclists at a Grand Tour. Bikestyle Tours took us on a fabulous tour of great cycling, spectacular mountain views and climbs that were simply breathtaking. We live in Brisbame and to prepare for the Italian Alps we spent a lot of time on Tambourine mountain. Our training showed especially for climbing the massive mountains in Italy.
