Fulgaz Challenges | Cycle Indoors
Unique at-home experiences to win credit toward your 2021 cycling holiday
Cycle indoors at home on our favourite climbs
We’re excited to release a new initiative with our partners at Fulgaz. You can still experience the joy of cycling our favourite climbs, the famous Tour de France climbs.
If you ride enough of them, you’ll spot a Bikestyle Tour group on one of the climbs.
Europe cycling races have been cancelled or postponed until end of May !
FEAR NOT! We’ve been working tirelessly with all of our guests, many suppliers, partners, cycling guides and fellow cycling tour operators to make sure we manage through.
Bikestyle Tours Goes Fulgaz
As the season changes and temperatures rise in Europe, a new landscape emerges.
Where have the people gone?
Prohibition of non-essential outings has brought about the temporary abandonment of cycling on the famous roads – our favourite climbs. People around the world are now looking for ways to cycle indoors.
How to Train Indoors on your favourite climbs
Many have jumped online for our work, to learn and to keep healthy. Many cyclists have dusted off their “turbo-trainer”, “bike-training”, “rollers” or “smart-trainer”. Devices that are normally reserved for those cold wet days.
A smart trainer for your bike helps you ride various courses online using an App – this is how zwift works, but it is a virtual world, a simulated world just like a computer game. From our own lounge rooms, using zwift we connect through wire and we’re able to enjoy some of the social aspects of riding together.
But what about our favourite thing of cycling?
- Ride famous climbs
- Amazing scenery
- Riding together on the iconic climbs of Europe!
Fulgaz is an experience that is close to the real thing – gradients are accurately calibrated and you actually see the real road; with traffic, other cyclists and in real weather. We think Fulgaz is the next best thing to being there.
We’re missing sharing our favourite office at the moment
Our office normally has us dwarfed by the French Alps, the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites, the lush green passes of the Pyrenees, the barren landscape of Mont Ventoux and lavender fields of Provence.
Thanks to our partners at Fulgaz, we’ll be able to share our European office with more guests in a year than we have before! Let’s meet you on a famous climb in 2020, with the help of Fulgaz!

How to escape boredom in Lockdown?
Though the virus started in China, Europe is the epicentre. Now, many parts of the world are in lockdown! Some governments only allow for people to travel for essential work or for getting essential items from a supermarket or a chemist. We all have the responsibility to halt this hideous pandemic and not spread the virus.
This new community isolation is creating its own challenge – boredom. We are all anxious and our lives revolve behind closed doors. For those fortunate enough to be able to work from home, be disciplined in how and when you work. Stay connected, stay focused and avoid distractions. There are people who have lost their job, check-in with them, make sure they are okay.
When we are locked-down at home, we find momentary resolve in television series reruns or maybe a series you’ve been holding out to binge. Some of us will find solace in their books, maybe it’s an e-book, or that tangible paperback. At least, we’re taking a break from the anxiety that the saturation of news bulletins creates.
Beyond protecting the broader community, we need to maintain our personal well being!
social distance yourself, at least 1.5m from others
always wash your hands, especially before touching your face
cough or sneeze into your elbow (not on your hands)
We encourage you to connect through our Bikestyle Community.
A place for our family to share – past, present and future – please join us.
How to maintain your personal well being?
Our belief is that personal well being is a construct of fueling 3 parts of our well-being; Intellectual, Social and Physical. We deliver our cycling trips with this in mind.
- Exploring foreign cultures and languages feeds our intellectual well-being
- Experiencing new places and stunning landscapes with like-minded individuals feeds our social well-being
- Riding our bikes and feasting on delicious meals supports us physical well-being
During the our current time of social distancing and social isolation, each day try the following.
Do something for your intellectual well being
- If you’re working from home, challenge yourself by trying to do something exceptional
- If you’re unable to work, make sure you learn something new, such as a language, we’d suggest French, Italian or Spanish!
- Do some crosswords, sudoku, play scrabble – Turn your television off and try and entertain those in your household. When was the last time you played charades?
Do something for your social well being
- Join our Bikestyle Community on Facebook and discuss our common passion.
- Make a list of people you haven’t connected with in a long time, reach out to them. Call them, Facetime them.
- Contact someone who may be vulnerable, elderly or lonely.
- Get creative, play a board game, try play it over Zoom or Google Hangouts!
Do something for you physical well being
- Work on your core strength (more announcements coming soon)
- Work on your flexibility
- Learn how to ride the rollers! You’ve always wanted to!
- Set up your smart trainer and join one of our FULGAZ ride challenges
