- New riders disrupt the dynamics of the group
- Every rider is responsible for keeping themselves and those around them safe
- Coaches help you to ride safely in the group
- Fixing problems during the event is too late
Current Training Goals
This month we are training THRESHOLD.
Your body should have adapted to riding regularly from our BASE training phase and we have steadily increased the training load through our STRENGTH training phase. Our coaching sessions continue to focus on specific climbing skills, descending skills and developing core strength. Our weekend training rides are closer to the distances that we’ll cover during the event and there will be more intensity in our weekday session.
At the end of this month is our Training weekend. See all details below.
It is important to ride regularly with increasing distances and more hills! Correct technique is important to prevent soreness or injury. Group riding skills are heavily tested when riders are more fatigued or someone new joins the group.
A 10 Year Celebration
Many riders rejoin the peloton for the milestone year and there are some new riders in 2020 too. Bikestyle Tours is coaching the Chain Reaction Queensland riders for a fifth consecutive year. Our mission is to prepare riders to be able to enjoy the 1000km, importantly to:
- ride safely in a group
- encourage camaraderie
- improve physical being; health, energy, nutrition and core strength
Our training program brings riders together regularly and helps maintain their fundraising focus for the charity partners. We’re amazed by the individual fundraising efforts of all riders and how their own families support their contribution to an incredible foundation and its charities.
It’s our pleasure to be Chain Reaction Queensland coaches for another year.
2020 Ride Course
The 2020 ride follows the spectacular coastline of northern New South Wales and southern Queensland, similar to the inaugural Queensland ride. While the scenery delights, the rough roads will challenge riders. The penultimate day presents the biggest climb of the journey, over Tomewin before entering Queensland. A few roads in the Great Dividing Range will also challenge riders throughout the week.
